A facelift is a highly individualized procedure. Dr. Shektman will evaluate your skin, muscle and bone structure and the specific conditions which contribute to your ageing appearance. These factors are the most significant considerations in determining appropriate techniques or a combination of techniques to help achieve your goals. It is important to have a set of realistic goals for the facelift to be a success. Most patients are reassured to know that the surgery will not alter their basic appearance, but will restore it to a younger, more refreshed version of itself.

Preparing for surgery

The facelift surgery you are to undergo will be carefully explained to you. You will be given specific instructions that will include:

●pre-surgical considerations, diagnostic testing and medications

●day of surgery instructions and medications

●information on anesthesia

●post-operative care and follow-up

What to expect

Your facelift procedure may be performed in our accredited office-based surgical facility or in a hospital, depending on your wishes and any health issues you may have.

In the office setting, intravenous sedation will be used; while in the hospital, general anesthesia is more likely.

Local anesthesia to the facelift area is always administered.

Following surgery

Once your facelift is completed, a dressing will be placed around your face to minimize swelling and bruising. A thin silicone drain will be present. Specific instructions will be given to you during your consultation and following your surgery and may include:
