Injectable products are used to improve your skin’s appearance by adding fullness, creating angles, and eliminating signs of aging. There are many different kinds of cosmetic injectables, but one of the most common ones is Sculptra. If you would like to find out if you are a good candidate for Sculptra, contact Wellesley Cosmetic Surgery today.
What Are Sculptra Cosmetic Injectables?
Collagen is a substance that gives skin its elasticity and thickness. As you age, your skin will begin to lose collagen, thus making you appear older. Most injectable fillers are designed to temporarily fill in folds and wrinkles caused by the loss of collagen. But, Sculptra is different. Sculptra is an FDA-approved injectable that slowly replaces collagen in the skin.
How does it work? Your plastic surgeon will inject Sculptra into targeted areas on your face. Sculptra will enter the deep dermis, where it will slowly begin to help your body produce collagen that has been lost due to aging and other natural causes. As the collagen forms, it will add volume to your face and smooth out folds and wrinkles, making you appear years younger. It’s important to note that it typically takes two to three injection appointments to see the desired results.
How Do Plastic Surgeons Know When to Do Injectables?
A Boston plastic surgeon may suggest that you try injectables if you have shallow or deep nasolabial folds, which are found in the area between the nose and the mouth. Injections can also be used on wrinkles that surround the mouth, which are known as marionette lines, and wrinkles on the chin. Sculptra is not approved to inject in lips or under eyes.
Injectables may be recommended for patients who are only interested in non-surgical treatments. If you don’t want to undergo a facelift, an injectable may help you achieve the look that you desire, however, the results will not last as long.
How Long Do Injectables Last?
Sculptra results will typically last for about two years. Don’t be disappointed if you don’t see results immediately following treatment. Remember, it’s important to receive two to three treatments in order to achieve the desired results. After you have received two to three treatments, the results should be noticeable.
